Project Description:

Newtown Creek Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP) is the largest of the 14 New York City WPCPs. New York City entered into a Consent Order with USEPA to upgrade the plant to provide Biological Nitrogen Removal. The upgrades will include the following: General Battery of Aeration and Final Tanks, Preliminary Tanks and Residuals Building, and Reconstruction of Kingsland Avenue. Engineering services include project management, update preliminary design, site data and evaluation of existing conditions, final design, value engineering, permits and agency approvals, bidding assistance, design services during construction, planning and operation, close-out and public participation.

Amay Associates, PE, PC provided the following services as a sub-consultant to Hazen and Sawyer, Malcolm Pirnie and Greeley and Hansen, JV:

  • Liaison engineering services.
  • Public Outreach Liaison services, including interface with design engineers and various New York City agencies to ensure the smooth communication and understanding between Communities and the City.
  • Intergovernmental Liaison services to provide communication between NYCDEP and other City agencies.
  • Review shop drawings.
  • Provide Quality Control services including witnessing shop testing.
  • Prepare, process, and negotiate change orders.
  • Prepare and send out news letters to community.
  • Attending community board meetings.
